WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 (UPI) — Maintenance and the national security situation in Iraq are having an impact on the level of oil production, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said. “In Iraq, planned maintenance and ongoing unplanned security-related outages have taken 740,000 barrels per day of crude oil production offline since September,” the EIA said in its weekly review, published Thursday. “The security situation in Iraq continues to affect production.” The EIA said a Nov. 2 attack on the Kirkuk-Ceyhan oil pipeline, which runs from the Kurdish north of Iraq to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, was in part responsible for some of the outages reported for Iraq this month. The EIA said it expected planned outages from Iraq, which includes upgrades to southern export terminals, to reduce Iraqi crude oil output by nearly 400,000 bpd. “This [crude oil] production is likely to remain offline for the remainder of 2013, […]
