US oil and gas giant Chevron has started production from two new onshore wells in the Jalalabad gas field, northeastern Bangladesh, with output of around 90,000 Mcf/day, a senior Petrobangla official said Monday. State minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid inaugurated the natural gas supply from JB-6 and JB-7 wells at a function in Sylhet Sunday. Chevron will start gas production from another new onshore gas well — JB-8 — within the first quarter of 2016, said the official. Total natural gas production from the three new wells would be around 130,000 Mcf/d, raising Jalabad gas field’s production to around 350,000 Mcf/d and making it Bangladesh’s third largest producing gas-field with eight wells.
