Wave of bombings kills at least 65 on Syria’s loyalist coast

A wave of bombings in Syria killed at least 65 people Monday in a coastal area where Russian troops are based, Syrian state media reported. The attacks struck at one of the key strongholds for President Bashar al-Assad outside Damascus and the hub for Russian military operations backing his government. Three explosions struck the port city of Tartous, where Russia has long maintained a naval base and four more hit the town of Jabla, not far from a new Russian air base established for the purpose of intervening in Syria’s war late last year, according to the state news agency SANA.
