US East Coast power markets saw prices spike into triple-digit territory Thursday as loads approached the highest levels so far this year. High temperatures along the East Coast Thursday were expected to be between 90 degrees Fahrenheit and over 100 degrees. In New York ISO markets, Long Island Zone K real-time prices spiked to $225/MWh around 11 am EDT (1500 GMT) from lows around $50s/MWh, while the rest of NYISO real-time prices hovered mostly in $40s/MWh.
