June 12 (UPI) — The process to open parts of the Atlantic Ocean up for energy exploration is ill-advised and lacks transparency, a group of Senate Democrats said. President Donald Trump ‘s administration issued a draft for public comment in the federal registry last week for seismic airgun blasting in the Atlantic Ocean, a practice used to get a better understanding of the reserve potential in a particular basin. Sen. Bill Nelson , D-Fla., led a group of Senate Democrats in calling on the administration to provide more transparency in the proposal.
