Iranian students clashed with riot police during an anti-government protest around the University of Tehran on December 30. A wave of protests in Iran on a scale not seen in almost a decade stretched into a fifth day on Monday despite government warnings, after at least 10 people died the previous night in the mounting unrest. Two protesters were shot dead overnight in Izeh in southwestern Iran, the semiofficial Iranian Labor News Agency reported, citing Hedayatollah Khademi, a member of parliament from the area. State media reported that protesters were also killed overnight in other parts of Iran.
