Newly released data from the BLS reveals that October continued the trend of adding jobs in the sector. The U.S. added 5,000 mining jobs for the month of October, according to data released Nov. 2 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The month’s gains continue the trend of 2018. The industry has added 65,000 jobs over the year, according to the BLS. The bulk of these gains come from support activities for mining. In October, oil and gas extraction accounted for the addition of 800 jobs, while support activities for mining added 3,300 jobs.
