Iraq’s Federal Supreme Court has given the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) until June 27 to formally provide answers to court queries, including arguments to support its claims that its autonomous oil sector is constitutional. A federal high court ruling in either direction is unlikely to change facts on the ground but would provide significant legal backing to claims that are at the crux of the country’s primary oil dispute.
