Iran’s oil minister said Monday the process for finding a new company to invest in its South Pars gas field was under way now that French supermajor Total left. Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh was quoted by the official Islamic Republic News Agency as saying Total has officially quit the South Pars consortium, leaving China National Petroleum Corp. on with a 30 percent stake and Iran’s Petropars with 19.9 percent. Zanganeh said the process of finding a substitute to take on Total’s majority stake in the South Pars project was already under way.
